CE declaration of conformity
The CE Declaration of Conformity (officially known as EC or EU Declaration of Conformity) is a legal document of fundamental importance, not only for mechanical engineering, but in the entire area of legal regulation of product safety within the European Union. Reinisch GmbH is your competent partner to answer any questions you may have about CE declaration of conformity.
By issuing a CE declaration of conformity, a manufacturer signs to state that his product complies with the safety and health requirements of the relevant EU directives. This written declaration of conformity is preceded by a conformity assessment. In mechanical and plant engineering this procedure is carried out according to the Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC). Additional guidelines that cover CE relevant requirements for product safety are, for example, the Low Voltage Directive, the ATEX Directive or the Pressure Equipment Directive. After successfully passing the conformity assessment the manufacturer shall certify the compliance with the relevant guidelines in form of the written CE declaration of conformity. The certified CE representatives of reinisch GmbH will provide you with qualified advice on all CE topics during all design and production phases.
Risk assessment as the first step on the way to obtaining the EU Declaration of Conformity
Risk assessment is the key element of the conformity assessment in mechanical engineering.
It aims to identify all hazards which could originate from a machine and to eliminate or mitigate them as far as possible. All residual risks that are not eliminated by the manufacturer during the production process and thus remaining must be included in the technical documentation and made accessible to the future user, in particular in the operating instructions. The CE declaration of conformity needs to be included in the operating instructions.
The CE team of reinisch GmbH carries out the risk analyses and risk estimations necessary for the conformity assessment procedure with regard to the mechanical and functional safety of machines and installations.
Declaration of conformity as a prerequisite for obtaining the CE marking
The CE Directives have set EU-wide minimum requirements with regard to safety and health effects for a wide variety of products, ranging from toys and construction products to medical devices and pyrotechnics.

Conformity assessment in the centre of CE certification
Therefore, the affixing of the CE marking is not a simple self-commitment of the manufacturer, but finalises the end of a complex CE certification process.
A comprehensive conformity assessment is the key component of this procedure. In mechanical and plant engineering, the European Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) is the foundation of this assessment and requires a qualified risk assessment that identifies all hazards which could originate from a machine. The CE team of reinisch GmbH assists customers with risk analyses and estimations required in the course of conformity assessment of machinery and derives recommendations for risk mitigation from them.
